Discover the Swiss Alps on foot
Champéry is a gateway to some of the most breathtaking hiking routes in Switzerland. Surrounded by the majestic Dents du Midi and part of the vast Portes du Soleil region, this area offers over 800 km of marked trails, ranging from easy strolls to full-day alpine adventures.
Whether you’re looking for a peaceful walk through wildflower meadows, a family-friendly loop, or a challenging summit hike, there’s a route for every level — all immersed in stunning natural beauty.
To help you choose the right hike, Switzerland uses a clear trail grading system from T1 to T6. Here’s what it means, in simple terms:
T1 – Easy: Well-marked paths, mostly flat or gently sloping. Suitable for beginners and families. No special equipment needed.
T2 – Moderate: Slightly steeper, may include uneven ground or rocky paths. Basic hiking shoes recommended.
T3 – Challenging: Steep or narrow trails, some exposure, and hands may be needed for balance. Good footwear and sure-footedness required.
T4 – Demanding: Technical mountain hiking with exposed sections and simple climbing. Used by experienced hikers.
T5 – Very Demanding: Routes with exposed, difficult terrain, requiring excellent navigation, mountain experience, and possibly the use of hands or ropes.
T6 – Alpine: Not marked paths, high mountain terrain, often off-trail. For expert mountaineers only, with full gear and advanced skills.
Each hike listed on this page will include its T-level, so you can choose the adventure that fits your level and comfort.
